Our Forese Family Pool complex is a great source of pride and one of the highlights of our extraordinary facility. Recently, we have been working in partnership with the contractors who designed and installed the pools and have identified areas in need of repair and alterations to improve function, durability, and appearance. We feel fortunate to have these partners who are committed to ensuring the long lifetime these pools were intended to have for our facility, our members, and our community.
To fully address the issues we’ve identified, we must close the Forese Family Pool complex beginning May 1 with an anticipated reopening date of November 1. The work will primarily involve the pool deck and interiors including replacing pool surfacing, tiling, and drainage infrastructure. We will also take this time to replace interior lights in both pools, improve the water features in the Scooter Pool, replace some of the stainless steel surfaces with more durable and rust-resistant materials, and perform maintenance to the pool’s HVAC system.
We understand that this closure will be an inconvenience for those who use our pools, and we thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding as we work to ensure the strongest Y possible for our community.
We have scheduled this work to take place during the warmer months and fortunately, our Valles Pool will remain open during this time. Throughout this period, we will be adjusting the water temperature of the Valles Pool to support the wider breadth of programming using the area. We are committed to supporting all those who use our pools and have worked to provide as minimal member interruption as possible.

Access to the Valles Pool is temporarily rerouted during this time. The access route is clearly marked from the wet hallway. Access through the Forese Pool deck will be restored as work progresses.
Adult Lap, Therapy Swim, and Free Swim are all running on adapted schedules in the Valles Pool.
Spring Session 2 Swim Lessons
Youth swim lessons are offered with an adapted schedule in the Valles Pool beginning with Spring Session 2.
Parent/Child Spring Session 2 classes are held off-site at the Darien YMCA.
Spring Session 2 swim lessons are currently in progress.

Summer Swim Lessons at the Y
The schedule for summer swim lessons at the Y will be available in late May with summer program registration beginning on June 5.
