In 1954, a group of dedicated volunteers decided that New Canaan should have its own YMCA to serve our community. While the Y facility and programs have evolved over time to meet our community needs, one thing that remains constant is that the New Canaan YMCA is the place where our community comes together…all ages, all abilities, and all backgrounds.
The New Canaan YMCA is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to strengthening our community. With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every child and teen, improves our community’s health and well-being, and provides opportunities to give back and support each other.
Enriching all people in spirit, mind, and body.
We are committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Each year, nearly 6,000 kids come to our Y to have some fun. While they’re here, they are also developing character-building values, discovering new skills, and forming relationships within our community.
Our goal is to improve our community’s health and well-being. Our Y supports physical and mental health, brings families closer together, and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun, and shared interests. The Y promotes a supportive and inclusive environment, offering programs and activities for all ages, abilities, goals, and interests.
Since 1954, the New Canaan YMCA has been here for our community. Through programs, facilities, and support, our community can always count on the Y. The New Canaan YMCA proudly provides life-changing programs and support for those with special needs, cancer survivors, and those with chronic disease. Each year, the Y also provides approximately $250,000 in financial assistance ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive at the Y regardless of financial situation. We also provide opportunities for our community members to give back and make a difference themselves. Whether as a volunteer, participating in our world service initiative, or as a donor, our members have the opportunity to join the Y’s cause of making our community stronger together.
