Always Here for Our Community...
Nearly 70 years ago, a group of dedicated volunteers decided that New Canaan should have its own YMCA to serve our community. While the Y facility and programs have evolved over time to meet our community needs, one thing that remains constant is that the New Canaan YMCA is the place where our community comes together…all ages, all abilities, and all backgrounds.
The Y is a community nonprofit organization where individuals come together to connect, inspire, and support each other. It is where families meet life-long friends, where kids and teens build confidence and find their niche, where those with special needs feel welcome and empowered, where seniors remain engaged physically and socially, where cancer survivors regain strength, where all ages achieve better physical and mental health, where those who need a helping hand financially are embraced, and where we all stay connected.
No matter our need, background, or stage in life, the Y is always there for us all when we need it…and donations make this unwavering support possible.
A donation to the New Canaan YMCA helps make our entire community stronger, happier, and better connected. Please consider a gift to our Y and join us in making sure our community’s kids, teens, seniors, and families can always count on the Y.
Donations to the Y Make the Following Possible
Every year, the Y provides approximately $250,000 in financial assistance, ensuring everybody has access to all the opportunities created at the Y.
Financial assistance helps families access safe and engaging childcare and summer camp programs, teaches kids how to swim, and supports anyone who needs a helping hand to stay healthy, happy, and connected.
Special Needs Programs
Our Y offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
Over 130 kids, teens, and adults with special needs build confidence, develop independence, and make lasting friendships at the Y each year through meaningful programs, events, and employment opportunities.
Many of the programs and resources the Y offers for seniors, kids, teens, families, cancer survivors, individuals with chronic disease, and others do not cover their costs, yet the benefits and support they provide are invaluable.
We continue to provide life-saving funds, support, and meaningful connections to our partners at Facing the Future in Kibera, Kenya, serving over 300 children in Africa’s largest slum.
Ways to give
Annual Support Campaign
The annual support campaign is our major source of charitable contributions, supporting financial assistance, program subsidies, special needs programming, our Livestrong at the YMCA cancer wellness program, community events, and our partner school, Facing the Future, in Kibera, Kenya.
Charity Golf Tournament
Our annual charity golf tournament is held each May at the beautiful Country Club of Fairfield. Funds raised from the event make our life-changing programs and support services possible for children, teens, and adults with special needs.
Including the New Canaan YMCA in your estate planning can help the Y build long-term financial stability through our endowment. You can leave a legacy ensuring the Y will continue to strengthen our community for generations to come.
Many companies and organizations have a matching gift program to support their employees’ charitable priorities. Make your donation to the Y go further with a matched gift from your employer!
Giving in Honor
The New Canaan YMCA is pleased to provide our supporters with our tribute and memorial giving program. Many donations are made each year to our Y in honor of a loved one or friend. These gifts may be made in memory of someone special or in honor of a holiday, anniversary, celebration, or birthday.
Volunteers are critical to our Y and provide members of our community with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Each year, over 500 people of all ages contribute their time and talents as volunteers at the New Canaan YMCA. Whether through one-time events or ongoing help, each of our volunteers make a difference at the Y and our community.
