The 2025-2026 Y-Ball recreational basketball league concluded in late March, proudly serving over 800 participants in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The New Canaan YMCA’s Y-Ball program emphasizes skill-building, sportsmanship, inclusion, and fun. On the court, kids discover the value of hustle, sportsmanship, and respect. Off the court, they form lasting friendships and a lifelong love for the game; all in a fun, supportive environment where everyone plays. Led by volunteer coaches, players practice at least once per week and play games on the weekend.
This year’s season introduced an exciting enhancement designed to elevate player development and engagement for younger players. Participants in kindergarten through second grade competed in a four-on-four game format, promoting increased ball touches, teamwork, and skill-building in a fun and supportive environment.
Older athletes in grades three through 12 experienced the thrill of postseason play, as playoffs were incorporated into their divisions. Playoffs provided participants with opportunities to build confidence, demonstrate growth, and enjoy a competitive yet positive culmination to their season. The Y extends its gratitude to the volunteer coaches, staff, families, and players who helped make this season a success.
