The goal of our adult swim lesson program is to give adults the opportunity to either learn to swim or master whatever skills they may already have. From beginners who are uncomfortable in the water to intermediate and advanced swimmers looking to enhance technique, our adult swim lessons program provides instruction and support in a comfortable and small-class setting. Open to New Canaan YMCA members.

For additional information and any questions, contact Emily Daymonde, Aquatics Director, at 203-920-1652 or by email.

Private and semi-private lessons are available based on pool, instructor, and swimmer availability. Register for private and semi-private lessons through Emily Daymonde, Aquatics Director, at 203-920-1652 or by email. Open to New Canaan YMCA members and non-members.

We ask for at least a 24-hour notice on any cancellations. To cancel your Private or Semi-Private lesson, you must call Emily Daymonde, Aquatics Director, at 203-920-1652. No-notice cancelations or “no shows” must be paid for.

Water is a wonderful, supportive environment for exercise.  The ability to use the properties of water to vary the intensity of a workout makes it a wonderful form of exercise for all ages and abilities.  We offer a variety of water group exercise classes each week, which are free and open to New Canaan YMCA members.

The Y offers aquatic fitness classes taught in our Forese Family Scooter and Valles Pools. If you have any questions or if you need help getting started, please contact Kristin Schnitzler, Group Wellness Director, at 203-920-1636 or by email.
